         The well-known German leading NGO, Welthungerhilfe(WHH) together with the Malawian NGO Coordination Union for the Rehabilitation of Environment (CURE), are currently implementing the Project Sustainable Intensification of Market Oriented Production in Mwalija Smallholder Irrigation Scheme in Chikwawa, as part of the Malawian Government Programme: Support to the implementation of the Agriculture Sector Wide Approach (ASWAp) and the Green Belt Initiative (GBI) component 2b: Development of medium scale irrigation schemes, funded by the European Development Fund, through the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning and Development (MoFEP&D).

         The main objective of the project is to increase agricultural productivity and food security of rural communities through improved access of farmers to irrigated agriculture, while promoting environmental rehabilitation and conservation. Welthungerhilfe and CURE, are currently seeking a recognized competent Contractor with long-term traceable experience in the field of Solar Powered Irrigation Scheme Installation and Construction, preferable with work experience in Malawi. The contractor will be engaged in the development of the scheme.
